Well-known for its expertise in the recreational field, HONCO, was awarded through McDonald Bros. Construction and Lakehead University in Thunder Bay, Ontario, the contract was to design and manufacture a building of 4929 m². This building, which is used as a sports complex, is housing an indoor soccer field. For the design of the building, we had to take into account that there would be two playing areas in the middle, a jogging track at the perimeter, and a large opening to install a curtain wall, which would increase the natural lighting inside the building. Moreover, HONCO's contract consisted supplying all the building components. The HONCO building is ideal for this kind of recreational project: large clear span, attractive light reflective ceiling, extra interior space with the elimination of columns that usually block the aisle along the walls, etc.
