Honco was awarded the contract for the turnkey design-build of a sports complex following a public bidding process in the spring of 2021.
The work was carried out between the fall of 2021 and was completed during the summer of 2022.
The architecture of the new Centre Multisport de Saguenay revolves around two major regional economic pillars: lumber and aluminum. The presence of an immense fenestration makes it a highly coveted place. The colossal staircase carefully located between the curtain wall and the synthetic field is composed of an amalgam of aluminum and glass to maintain the lighted aspect of the whole. The playing surface will be state of the art and offers an optimal synthetic field. A system of curtain dividers suspended from the ceiling divides the main field into three playing surfaces. The simple and functional operating mechanism provides maximum surface area both along the wall and in the clearance areas without apparent structure. Good sized locker rooms are located along the court to minimize travel distances. The abundance of windows and the bright ceiling make this center a very pleasant place to practice your sport.
The Multisport Center can accommodate 161 spectators, including an area for people with reduced mobility, and offers a 963 m² running track as well as administrative offices.
